About

The Mobile UW initiative is a project that aims to establish an official campus mobile presence, as well as to nurture an environment for campuswide mobile development.

Goals

  • Launch an official campus app — Mobile UW — on iPhone and Android that provides relevant content and features to students, staff, faculty, parents, alumni and visitors to campus.
  • Launch a basic, mobile-Web-enabled version of the university home page that provides basic content and features to non-iPhone and non-Android users.
  • Engage users in the greater campus community to provide feedback and ideas that influence future growth of mobile apps and websites on campus.
  • Establish a campus community of mobile developers that benefit from collaboration, knowledge-sharing and access to open-data services.

Project leadership

The Mobile UW initiative is a joint project of the CIO Office and the Vice Chancellor for University Relations. A team consisting of representives from the CIO Office, the Division of Information Technology, the Registrar, University Communications and UW Libraries has been providing leadership and overall strategy for the initiative.
